When The People Cheer The RootsThe Roots may be the house band for your favorite late night show, but don’t think that they are taking a break from their musical passions. One thing about the legendary crew from Philly, they never seem to be swayed by the current trends in popular hip hop; instead, they buck at them and head in the opposite direction. Their latest video, for their single “When The People Cheer”, definitely showcases this attitude and talent of theirs.

Rather than fill a video with a plethora of scantily clad beautiful women, bottles popping, and clouds of smoke, they choose to go with a clever claymation. In what looks like an abandon warehouse, we follow a protagonist that seems to be trapped, drowning under a flood of Apple Jacks. It sounds strange, when describing it, but it is an impressive video to behold. Look out for And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, which hits shelves May 20th.
