Today, Sprint, HTC and Harman/Kardon announced a new version of the recently released HTC One M8. The new device dubbed the HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon Edition has been souped up with the audiophile in mind and will be available exclusively to Sprint customers.
Peter Chou, CEO of HTC, Dan Hesse, CEO of Sprint and Dinesh Paliwal, CEO of Harman were on hand at a special New York event that included a performance by Miri Ben Ari, to show off their new device that targets music lovers and looks to bring them HD-quality audio. Where many audio companies aim to achieve better sound by substituting bass or highs, the new M8 Harmon/Kardon edition combines Harman audio technologies Clari-Fi and Livestage, designed to restore and rebuild music lost during audio compression, as well as better replicate the sound of a live performance, providing a more pure and organic listening experience. The special edition will support HD audio formats, including uncompressed FLAC files.
While pricing hasn’t been announced, the Harman/ Kardon M8 will be available online beginning May 2 and in stores May 9. It will keep the metal unibody design of the original but will be in a new brushed black finish with champagne accents. It will also come with a pair of Harman’s $150 in-ear headphones.
