A Canadian man was arrested Monday attempting to smuggle eight pounds of reefer to the U.S. while swimming across the border in full scuba gear.
Around 1 a.m. U.S. Border Patrol agents picked up 24 year-old Jesse Zunti after someone tipped them off about a scuba diver in the water. Zunti was eventually spotted on a surveillance camera swimming across the Saint Clair River near Marine City, Michigan. It was there they noticed Zunti was carrying something.
After swimming three-quarters of a mile, Border Patrol waited to pick Zunti up after he emerged on the other side of the river. The agents discovered a large, watertight PVC cylinder filled with over eight pounds of Mary Jane attached to a seawall ladder not too far from where they arrested Zunti. After being detained by Border Patrol, Zunti was then turned over to the St. Clair County Drug Task Force which is expected to prosecute him.
Well, you gotta give him an A for creativity… kinda?
