Miley Cyrus definitely shocked the world with her TV-MA performance at the TV-14 VMA’s. If you haven’t seen the images or the video, the Disney-to-Ratchet star twerked her way into infamy. She pretty much twerked near or on anything and everything that was on stage, and with a nude colored bikini on, things got pretty lewd. While fans knew what to expect from her, the Parental Television Council did not. Let’s just say they weren’t pleased…one bit.

PTC released a fiery complaint, stating that “MTV continues to sexually exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate ‘twerking’ in a nude-colored bikini. How is this image of former child star Miley Cyrus appropriate for 14 year olds?” Their position isn’t too surprising, when you factor in that they were the same people who came against Janet Jackson after the notorious nip-slip. However, their stance on the frequent condom commercials that ran throughout the ceremony, seems a little counterproductive.

“MTV has once again succeeded in marketing sexually charged messages to young children using former child stars and condom commercials–while falsely rating this program as appropriate for kids as young as 14. This is unacceptable.” In their perfect world, teens would remain pure and would remain blissfully ignorant about twerking. Unfortunately, our world does not work that way. Majority of the kids who were watching Miley, probably already knew or had heard of twerking. In reality, teens have sex, so it would be MTV’s responsibility to make sure that they are doing it safely, educating them.

The PTC has a right to their opinion, and who knows whats going to happen with their complaint though. Should MTV be fined for Miley’s performance? You can watch the video above, and tell us what you think.
