On May 5, XXL revealed it’s Freshman class of 2014, differing from previous years with the inclusion of R&B artists as well.
Deeming them the “Dirty Dozen” the cover features Chance the Rapper, Rich Homie Quan, Isaiah Rashad, Lil Durk, Kevin Gates, Troy Ave, Ty Dolla $ign, Vic Mensa, Lil Bibby, Jon Connor, Jarren Benta and August Alsina.
While many of these artist have already become household names they each gained individual acclaim for their unique sounds. Thanks to their strong underground followings as well as a few hit collaborations each has gained mainstream attention.
