F. Gary Gray’s classic late-nineties thriller, Set It Off, told the story of four young women from the inner city who decided to stop playing by the rules and take matters into their own hands. Today, a new generation of women from the inner city is ready to follow in the footsteps of legendary femcee Queen Latifah and her co-stars Jada Pinkett-Smith, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise.

Four of Philly’s premiere lady lyricists, Lee Mazin, Ms. Jade, Tiani Victoria, and Leen Bean, have joined forces over Marly Marl’s classic “The Symphony”, another epic posse cut which featured some of the 90′s most revered rhymers including Masta Ace, Craig G., Kool G. Rap, & Big Daddy Kane, to deliver a hard-hitting collab that’s sure to get the summer off to a hot start.

In a recent sit down with HipHopSince1987, Lee Mazin laid down the gauntlet to all femcees in her city, challenging them to put aside any petty differences and unite. Her call to arms resulted in “Set It Off”, wherein each spitter brings their own unique flavor to the track making for smorgasbord of memorable bars. The song even gets a classic intro from the legendary Mad Rapper.
