Time to put up or shut up. For those who have complained about the lack of “real” Hip-Hop in the form of compilation projects from the days of DJ Clue? and DJ Screw have something to look forward to spending their hard earned money on. Independent record label, Coalmine Records, put together some of the most notable producers, DJs, and emcees to represent the culture on one album-Unearthed. But why put in all of this time and effort, you may ask. The album is a nice pat on the back for the Brooklyn label reaching 10 years in the game, plus they just really love this stuff.
You can watch the trailer for the album below, which features the Young Cee produced intro track and the creative work of Todd Angkasuwan. I don’t want to give all of it away but you can expect appearances from Large Professor, Kool G Rap, Blu, Royce da 5’9″, Diamond D, El Da Sensei, Apathy, Guilty Simpson, Fashawn, REKS, The Artifacts, Sean Price, Billy Danze, Maffew Ragazino, DJ Babu, Statik Selektah, M-Phazes, Marco Polo, Diamond D, Nottz, Khrysis, Small Professor, and many more.
The album drops May 13th but you can pre-order it on iTunes, Fat Beats, and UGHH. And the kind folks at Coalmine Records made the intro track available to stream for your listening pleasure below.
