Gregory Kloehn, homeless homes project, homeless, artist, house, charityGregory Kloehn is a gifted artist hailing from Oakland, California with a mission to help end homelessness, one hut at a time. He founded his organization, Homeless Homes Project, after coming to the realization that his talent as a craftsman could help the homeless population in his area live safer and better lives.

Each week, Greg heads down to the local dump and dives in to see what pieces of scrap can be salvaged for his ongoing projects. He finds and pieces together all sorts of items, from doors to pallets to old crates, pieces them together and begins assembling small homes for those without one. Some even have wheels for easy mobility, laundry door-windows and slanted roofs so the rain won’t gather.

As of late, Kloehn  has been gathering local high school students and neighborhood volunteers to help him build at a faster rate. Though he is only one man, Homeless Homes Project has turned into a movement. No task is too small to begin on your own, especially when it’s for a great cause. Check out some of his final homes, below.
