The unlikely story of Shakespeare, John Lennon’s killer, Bob Dylan’s son, and a humble, but talented New York hip hop artist.
I first saw PremRock at an underground rap show in New York back in 2011, and was instantly impressed with his love for lyricism, delivery, and beat selection. He had a classic New York flow, that was only further enhanced by the beat he selected, not dependent upon it, for a truly synergistic sound. His energy and enthusiasm for what he does is contagious; even the most casual of listeners can easily pick up on his passion. In a time when so many shows are filled with fans who are glued to their smartphones, Prem did the nearly impossible: He had the crowd’s full, undivided attention. Hands were in the air, fans were singing along, and the crowd was fully engaged: evidence of a true emcee.
It’s with great pleasure that we present Prem’s latest single, “Lens,” from his album A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, available here.
Ever the story teller, Prem uses “Lens” to explain the unlikely connection between Shakespeare, John Lennon’s killer, and Bob Dylan’s son, over a hypnotic beat from Quelle Chris (Danny Brown, Pharoahe Monch & Roc Marci).
