Them Dipset boys are back!
Unless you been sleep under a rock you’ve probably bore witness the apparent official return of the Dipset we knew and loved yesterday. With years of crew tension, and singles that seemed ‘forced’ (see “Gretzky”) apparently behind them, The Diplomats have returned with a brand new Just Blaze-produced ballad, “Dipsh*t”. Cam’ron and Juelz return to their essence, that gilded 2003 music that lead to group’s hostile takeover of the rap game for the majority of the first decade of the millennium, with cameos from Jim Jones and Dame Dash solidifying the nostalgic experience.
Dipset came around during an interesting time in Hip Hop, with fellow contemporaries like G-Unit and D-Block rising in prominence concurrently. What set The Diplomats apart however, was their ability to combine street themes and lyrics with unmatched braggadocio and catchy slang that completely took America — especially New York City — by storm in the early to mid 2000′s. Reinforce that with powerful production from Just Blaze, Young Guru, and The Heatmakerz – Dipset was more than music as they frequently said, it was a movement.
With innumerable hits, deep albums cuts and rare tracks to name, we celebrate what could be the official return of Dipset and the 12 year anniversary of Cam’ron’s classic album Come Home With Me with our top the 10 Dipset tracks of all time.
