This has been a major year for Nasty Nas, who celebrated the twentieth anniversary of his groundbreaking debut, Illmatic, earlier with performances at Coachella and a documentary capturing his influence, Time Is Illmatic. Well, these only mark the beginning of his plans for the year and what comes next might blow your mind.
Collaborating with Peter Bittenbender, Nas has set up a brand new record company named Mass Appeal Records. Wasting no time, the two have already signed Fashawn, Bishop Nehru, and Boldy James to the label, which is a formidable lineup. Their first release will be a compilation album, due out in the summer, that will feature the full roster, plus some major friends. Who? A$AP Mob, Mac Miller, Future, and Pusha T, excited yet?
Well there is more, so stay still for one more moment. Nas also revealed that ten years after the first installment, fans can prepare to hear Lost Tapes 2 by the end of the year. Yes, a brand new collection of unreleased material will find its way into the hands of fans and listeners everywhere, hopefully sooner than later.
Speaking of unreleased work, Pimp C has a good amount of that and Mass Appeal Records also got their hands on their rights. Nas announced the plans to release a brand new Pimp C album, featuring the unused songs, but layered over modern popular production, from the likes of Mike Will Made-It and DJ Mustard.
It seems that Mass Appeal is planning on flooding the streets with quality music and we don’t mind at all. Check back for more information as we receive it from the source.
