Basketball is surely a global game and according to the NBA, their Basketball Without Borders partnership with FIBA has reached 1,700 campers from more than 120 countries. Not to mention, 28 of their Basketball Without Borders campers have been drafted into the NBA.

With that impact, it’s only right that they expand their territory this summer.

Basketball Without Borders will tip off their summer schedule on June 2 and will also feature first–time camps in Taipei, Taiwan and Rome, Italy.

The NBA will send their global ambassadors Dikembe Mutombo, along with retired Houston Rockets center Yao Ming to the camps. Former BWB campers that are now NBA players like the Atlanta Hawks’ Al Horford, Brooklyn Nets’ Andrei Kirilenko, Denver Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari and Oklahoma City Thunder defensive stopper Thabo Sefolosha will join the trip. 

“Basketball Without Borders helped me become the player and man I am today, both on and off the court,” said Gallinari. “Learning basketball and life skills from NBA players and coaches is a special opportunity that I greatly appreciated in 2003.”

The camps will include extensive community outreach efforts led by NBA players and coaches. Through grassroots basketball development, community service, and life skill seminars. It will also focus on teaching the values of the game, including leadership, respect, character and health and wellness.
