MK Asante teams up with industry staples Rass Kass, Bishop Lamont and Talib Kweli to deliver his new song and video, Godz N The Hood. The song itself is off of Rass Kass’s Barmageddon album as well as MK Asante’s upcoming book soundtrack, Buck.
The team of inspiring emcees flock to the streets of North Philly and show viewers a little bit of what it’s like where they come from currently, and have come from in the past. Each one steps to the mic and graphically depicts the history, and their story, of black people in America and the advancements/tribulations that have occurred over history. The song is a very powerful depiction of truths that are put into light through this perfectly suiting visual. Enjoy the full video, below.
…from the fields to the great migration and into the present; Asante and his fellow lyricists do a bang up job of breaking down the savage inequalities that color the black experience to varying degrees… – Okayplayer
