Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder, Yasiel Puig is one of the best up and coming talents in Major League Baseball right now. And last night he proved why he’s a star in his own right when he robbed New York Mets shorts Wilmer Flores in the second inning.
What seemed like a sure play for Flores turned into an out when Puig ran into right-center field and laid it all out when he sprinted to make one of the best if not the best catch of the year, after catching the ball Puig slid and rolled in one amazing motion and showing the umpires he had caught the ball in his glove. The catch also changed momentum for Lucas Duda who had to run back to first after the catch.
In last few weeks Puig has been criticized for his defense and errors made in the outfield, and while performing those plays he has hurt himself in the process. With the way Puig caught the ball, it’s very surprising Puig didn’t hurt himself on the play. Hopefully we see more plays like this from Puig and not more errors of him hurting himself trying to make plays.
