When Using Words Goes Wrong
Fox News cable network is not a stranger to controversy, however yesterday a Fox affiliated local news station found themselves in hot water after their nonsensical coverage of a news story. While informing the public about the passing of literary great Maya Angelou during their coverage of the tragedy, Fox 26 aired this headline.
“Maya Angelou Dead At Age 86
Cancels Houston Appearance On Friday”
The Houston news station chose to tell it’s viewers about the cancellation of Angelou’s upcoming event, while failing to focus on the misfortune at hand. Many took to social media to express their dismay in the news station, because if she passed, she obviously would be unable to attend a future scheduled event.
Blogs reported as early as last week that author had indeed canceled her MLB Luncheon in Houston, TX for May 30th, however Fox 26 used poor word choice in the wake of yesterdays news.
