Migos debuted a brand new single today that has potentially one of the strongest lineups in recent memory. Recruiting both Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, “New Atlanta” marks and welcomes the beginning of a new era in the city’s hip hop scene. These six artist are definitely the faces of young generation on the come up, who are tasked with the keeping the Atlanta’s dominant culture alive and well. However, they don’t disrespect the past or think that it’s over just yet; as they recruit Jermaine Dupri to bless the track with his trademark and bombastic presence.
“Who should do the hook?” was surely a tough question to answer with this lineup, but they decided to do a three part chorus that comes out well. Rich Homie Quan is basically singing, while the Migos and Thugga throw out rhymes at the end of each bar. The way they trade verses, immediately passing the microphone to the next emcee with no warning, keeps the song moving fast. It is definitely a success, and we hope that they make some more collaborations.
