Earlier this week, we saw footage of Bentley shooting an entire commercial with just an iPhone 5S, now Bentley hits us with another surprise. Bentley has been in talks about releasing a SUV for years, and they’ve received some mixed reviews on the concept. Now Bentley has gone out on a limb to release a new video of the SUV with plans on releasing it in 2016.
The SUV looks similar to your everyday Bentley car — if there is such a thing as a everyday Bentley — using the same powerful curves, similar grilles, circular headlamps with a wide body. Back in March the car company released a handful of shots of the car but not going into detail about the production or if the SUV would see the day of light.
With the price of gas still rising, why would Bentley release a SUV in the North America market? North America is the largest SUV market in the world, so adding a SUV to it’s car line adds diversity to the company. Bentley looks to add sales to North America region with 3,140 cars delivered there last year. Adding a SUV can only help their sales.
Other luxury carmakers like Lamborghini and Maserati have entertained the SUV idea, while Porsche released a SUV with much success.
They plan on starting production with different engine type including a plug-in hybrid by 2017. The concept was called the EXP-9, but the production name and pricing has not been released.
