Because steering wheels are so overrated.

Google Driverless Car

Google has been at the forefront of technological advancement for decades now, and they are only continuing to eclipse their prior milestones. With the impending official release of the much talked about Google Glass, the technology behemoth now shifts our attention to perhaps their biggest innovation — driverless vehicles.

Imagine this, road trips where everyone can relax, play board games, and watch movies while your car navigates the world on its own. Gone will be the day of leg cramps, stiff necks, and fear of falling the sleep behind the while because your car will do all of the hard work for you. The folks over at Google are working diligently and have been working diligently over the past few years to bring this experience to you, and a prototype now exists.

The Google car is a humble beginning, but a prodigious first step toward creating a world without drivers. The tiny two-seater car trades a steering wheel, brakes and a gas pedal for sensors and software that drive the car while avoiding accidents, as well as a single button which is used to start the vehicle and for emergency purposes.

As of now the prototypes have a max speed of 25 mph and its electric motor can run for about 100 miles. Test drives of the car have been available via Google’s corporate campus in California, so be sure to see if you can be lucky enough to test drive ride one of the 100 prototypes.
