After releasing the single “Kingdom” featuring Vince Staples earlier this week. Def Jam Records formally announced the release date for Common‘s forthcoming album, Nobody’s Smiling, which is set to release on July 22. The whole project is produced by one of the rapper’s close friend and frequent collaborator No ID. We already know Vince Staples is a guest on the album, but the Ab-Soul collaboration, “Made In Black America” may or may not make the final tracklist, and we’re sure Com has plans for some other big records as well. Last year was a bit quiet for Common save couple versus here and there, so not only are fans excited, but he is as well.

“I’m honored to team up with No ID and be a part of the Artium and Def Jam family. Creating this album and signing to Def Jam feels like a new beginning for me. I feel like a new artist because I created this album with the purpose to give back to my city and to the culture of hip hop. Def Jam is part of the foundation of hip hop and being able to work with No ID was returning to my foundation now with new energy and new hunger.”
