Were you actually waiting for a G-Unit reunion? Whether you were or not it happened. It took place at Hot 97′s Summer Jam or you might have caught it via Youtube; you probably didn’t expect Nas’ set to end so quick and him bring out 50 Cent. But that wasn’t even the tip of the iceberg. Next thing you know Lloyd Banks joins the stage, then Tony Yayo for So Seductive and when you thought that was it, Shawty Wanna Ride With Me blares through the speakers and Young Buck fresh from TenAKey appears.
After all of the screams and applause, was that what you really wanted?
With the release of 50′s latest album Animal Ambition, it seems right for marketing and he also has kept the momentum going with freestyles and songs with the rest of G-Unit including Fabolous’ Cuffin’ Season. Is it 2002 again? We can’t really say just yet. But just a few weeks prior to the Guerrilla Unit reunion, we got a glimpse of what it would be like if the Dipset joined forces again. Cam’ron released his latest song, DipSh*t with A-Trak along with a video featuring the old crew, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana Freeky Zeeky and even the infamous sh*t talking from Dame Dash. Twitter shed some Diplomatic Immunity tears that day, crying for more.
But do we want more? Will a reunion make up for break ups? Do we need it?
Think about all of the new groups, Odd Future, A$AP Mob, Two-9, World’s Fair, TDE, as you can see there are a few groups that are inching up to the front of the line to represent the new age of rap groups we should be checking for. We can all agree that they all get influence from their predecessors. But do we want this?
What groups are you checking for?
