A lot has been made about the Migos’ flow, their dizzying use of triplets and high octane adlibs, and the mystery of it’s origin continues to allude all who seek it. Some have traced it back to obscure Texas emcees, others claim it is original, but a lot of sources point it back to Three 6 Mafia.
On his latest EP, Freebase, 2 Chainz decided to throw his hat into the ring on “Trap Back”:
“Look at my car, how did it get on them 6′s/ This flow come from Drizzy, he got it from Migos, they got it from Three 6.”
While it doesn’t seem to be an offensive line, Quavo, Offset, andTakeoff weren’t big fans of the line. First, they took to twitter to voice their frustration with the world.
“YOUNGNs” ALWAYS RAISED 2 RESPECT OGs “REAL OGs” Gives Words Of Wisdoms NOT NAME DROPn ON THA NEXT “YOUNGNs” That’s Tryna STAIN THA GAME.
Now, in an interview with MTV, the three discussed how they felt slighted. Migos thought that 2 Chainz didn’t show them their proper respect, but only named dropped them. Apparently, Quavo saw on Instagram that researchers were actually looking for the flow’s origins in Africa. While it was a joke, it might get to that point in the near future, with the amount of questions that have been raised surrounding it. Check it out above.
