Last night Lebron James’ cramps became the talk of the town and the subject of numerous debates. People compared Lebron’s cramps to Michael Jordan’s “Flu Game”, Kobe Bryant’s torn achilles and much more. James’ cramps even sparked a clash between sports drinks.
Lebron is the official spokesman for Powerade and many took shots at the company saying it didn’t keep James properly hydrated.
Gatorade, the league’s longest standing sponsor and the official sports drink of the NBA since 1984 took the opportunity to throw shots when a few people mistakenly accused them of being Lebron’s sponsor.
@LazyBumDrew we were waiting on the sidelines, but he prefers to drink something else.

@CarmichaelDave This is awkward….We don’t sponsor him. #fail — Gatorade (@Gatorade) June 6, 2014
@ryanbkoo The person cramping wasn’t our client. Our athletes can take the heat. — Gatorade (@Gatorade) June 6, 2014
Gatorade wasn’t the only company to jump on the opportunity, BodyArmor got in on the discussion as well along with the person who invested millions in the company, Kobe Bryant.
.@Gatorade @LazyBumDrew Hmmm… are you sure @KingJames wasn’t drinking Gatorade last night?? #UpgradeYourSportsDrink pic.twitter.com/UwGZE3qaH5 — BODYARMOR SuperDrink (@DrinkBODYARMOR) June 6, 2014
.@Gatorade Awkward? Don’t you sponsor the NBA & aren’t players all forced 2 drink @Gatorade in game? #whofailed? #UpgradeYourSportsDrink — BODYARMOR SuperDrink (@DrinkBODYARMOR) June 6, 2014
The Powerade feed was silent other than this tweet earlier in the game congratulating their spokesman on a career milestone.
Consistency, unselfishness and a drive to succeed. Congrats @KingJames on 4,000+ points and 1,000+ assists in the post-season. #powerthrough
