Pharrell‘s storied career has seemed to take off in a major way these past two years, which is saying something when one looks back at his previous feats. To add the sweet tasting cherry on top on his recent success, the State of Virginia decided to honor it’s native son this past weekend. Skateboard P was born and raised in the state, getting his start in his hometown of Virginia Beach; even though he is now a global icon, he has never forgotten his hometown.
At his ceremony, held at his former high school, Princess Anne High School, Williams thanked his teachers, especially his music teacher Alan Sharp, for their continued support and helping to foster his life long passions. He also took the opportunity to announce From One Hand To AnOTHER’s partnership with Everfi, which will give digital learning opportunities for students participating in FOHTA’s Summer Innovation Camp.
During the event, Pharrell was handed the Keys to the City. At the same time, it was revealed that June 7th will be “Pharrell Williams Day” in the State, a high honor for the Renaissance man. Congratulations to Skateboard P, you deserve it!
