New field trips with “The Friz”.
Ms. Frizzle, her pet Liz, and her magic school bus will be making a major return via Netflix in the form of a new computer animated series entitled The Magic School Bus360°. The new series looks to modernize the 90′s classic children television and book series, with new scientific adventures for Ms. Frizzle with her elementary school class in tow. ”[Scholastic Media is] thrilled to expand our relationships and to be the first-run home of The Magic School Bus 360°, introducing a whole new generation to Ms. Frizzle and her hijinks,” Netflix Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos explained in a statement.
The original Magic School Bus series hit the small screen back in 1994 with a four season run and was based on the Scholastic book series of the same name by writer Joanna Cole and illustrator Bruce Degen. ”The Magic School Bus revolutionized kids’ television through a unique and powerful blend of entertainment and science information. We’re proud that it’s become an evergreen show that children and parents continue to watch together,” President of Scholastic Media, Deborah Forte explained. ”Our new rendition The Magic School Bus 360° is a similarly compelling addition to the current landscape of children’s programming and on Netflix is bound to reach more families around the world than ever before who will now be able to watch the show anytime, anywhere they want.”
The Magic School Bus 360° will launch in 2016, and will consist of 26 half-hour episodes.
