James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, the sole casualty of the 6 car-pileup that left Tracy Morgan in critical condition and Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton injured was laid to rest earlier this week.
The ceremony took place this past Thursday at the Paramount Theater of the Hudson Valley in McNairs hometown of Peekskill, New York. The service included a performance from his son Jamel McNair and collections where taken for his daughter Danita’s prom dress, which he was saving for prior to the accident.
There was an outpouring among friends, family and those who remembered McNair for his diligent volunteer work within the community. He volunteered often at the church and was praised by the Peekskill mayor, Frank Catalina “He was very serious about talking about the youth of our community. He didn’t fool around when you talked about health care’.
“There may be guys like Tracy who get the fame and notoriety, but you have people like Jimmy Mack who have kind of energized and fueled cats like Tracy and kept them going on the road,”
Royale Watkins told the Associated Press.
Watkins had the pleasure of performing with both McNair and Morgan, described Jimmy Mack as having a big heart.
