Yes it’s true in a surprising end to her outstanding 15 year career, Angie Martinez hosted her last show on the Hot 97 earlier today. While no one expected today to be her final show, just moments before her final broadcast she left this farewell message on her Instagram page thanking her fans, coworkers and company.
Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Thank you HOT97 and most importantly….the listeners… for an unimaginable journey. While there is no clear answer as to where Angie will take the “voice of NY”, that hasn’t stopped speculations with rumors surfacing that she may be heading over to REVOLT T.V or even to Power 105. 1. Interesting enough, Power 105.1 re-tweeted Angie’s Instagram post, even adding a smiley face.
Whether it was just a kind gesture or a hint at what’s to come, facts are wherever Angie takes her talents she will be greatly appreciated considering that her show dominated the airwaves. So, as we all await her next step we can only wish her the best and trust that her next step will be in whichever direction she deems best.
