With the NBA Draft just a few days away you can expect some movement amongst the teams. The Los Angeles Lakers hold the No. 7 pick which isn’t as high as they wanted so they’re willing to deal it to acquire another player, that player is Golden State’s Klay Thompson.
The Lakers have been in discussions with the Warriors to acquire Klay Thompson for the seventh pick in the draft. It would be a part of a much larger deal involving the Minnesota Timberwolves and would send coveted forward Kevin Love to the Warriors. The deal however has been put on hold as the Warriors aren’t sure if they’re willing to part with Thompson.
Thompson is part of the heavy scoring backcourt called the “Splash Brothers’ which is himself and Stephen Curry. Thompson’s numbers have greatly improved and many believe he will only get better.
Should the Lakers hold onto the pick they are looking at big men such as Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle and Noah Vonleh or point guards Dante Exum, Marcus Smart and Elfrid Payton.
As for Kevin Love it’s clear that he wants to be traded its just unclear how long the Timberwolves will hold onto him. Aside from this new deal with the Lakers, the Timberwolves and Warriors have discussed a future first-round pick, Klay Thompson and David Lee for Love and Kevin Martin. The Boston Celtics were also mentioned as a possible destination teaming up Love and Rajon Rondo together.
Talks may heat up as the draft approaches.
