Top latin stars like singer Prince Royce, actress Eva Mendes, renowned Yankee baseball player Jorge Posada and Adrienne Bailon were a few of the notables we spotted at the 2013 Vanidades Icons Of Style Awards at the Mandarin Oriental yesterday.
We spoke with singer Prince Royce on the red carpet. The last time we interviewed Prince Royce was at Jay-Z’s inaugural “Budweiser Made in America” in 2012.
He received the Icon of Style Award for Music.
How would you define style and how important is it to you?
Prince Royce: I think style is very important and how you carry yourself.
Are there any hip-hop artists you would like to collaborate with in the future?
Prince Royce: I am actually working on my first English album that is coming out next year with RCA. So hopefully we will have some hip hop in there.
How was it collaborating with Selena Gomez on “Already Missing You” for your new album “Soy El Mismo” out October?
Prince Royce: It was good! I think it’s going to be a song that the fans are going to enjoy. It’s an upbeat pop romantic song. I’m actually going to have a collab with an urban artist in November, I can’t say yet!

Legendary baseball player Jorge posada received the Icon of Style Award for Sports. After receiving the award he joked, “thank you for this award, but my wife should be the one recognized tonight. She is the fashionable one.” Eva Mendes who just launched her New York and Company collection received the Mujer Vanidades award. When receiving the award she said, “I wouldn’t be a fraction of the girl I am or the woman I am aspiring to be if it weren’t for my sisters and my mom.”
Last but not least, we spoke with legendary designer Oscar De La Renta who received the Iconic Man of Style Award. “I am very happy to be here. Mostly celebrating Vanidades and all the successful years they have had,” De La Renta told reporters. He continued that style “is discipline. A grand discipline to know who you are and represent yourself the best way you can.”
The evening was hosted by Roselyn Sanchez and Chiquinquira Delgado.
