footballer from Ghana gives out money in the streets of Brazil

Sulley Muntari of the AC Milan Football Club took to the streets of Maceio, Brazil to give the poor people of that town something that is direly needed by all of its citizens; money.

Muntari, a native of Ghana, was granted permission by his AC Milan’s head coach Kwesi Appiah to give to the needy in the town where Ghana’s World Cup team is based. During his tour, the star midfielder signed autographs, took pictures, and gave out handfuls of cash, which some believe to have been about R$5,000(Brazilian Reals).

Eventually the police put a stop to Muntari’s charity, however, those who were fortunate enough to receive something were more than grateful. A man named “Edivaldo”, who was quoted by Globo.com, said, “I lived in this poor community behind the rei Pele Stadium for 40 years, but have never seen anything like this before. Not once has a soccer player come here. Brazil never gave me anything, but Ghana did. I will support them up to the end.”
