While Stateside, A Tribe Called Quest are well known and hailed as some of the greatest innovators in hip hop forever; however, some youth outside of the country are not as keenly aware of their influence or name. This led to the idea to create a full audio documentary about one of the crew’s founding members, Q-Tip. BBC Radio 1 and Benji B, through a series of interviews, give willing listeners an inside look at the world of the Abstract and what led to him becoming a world renowned musician.
Through the hour long broadcast, various artists, who have been moved by Q-Tip, offer their insight and sing his praise. This includes Pharrell, Nas, and The Pharcyde are present, while Benji B narrates the entire program.
He takes the opportunity to share some information on his forthcoming album, The Last Zulu, and discusses some of the harsh lessons he learned about the industry. Check out the entire program below, it is quite enlightening.
