If the Big 3 break up that also breaks the Eastern Conference wide open and the Cleveland Cavaliers are going hard for that top spot.  They’ve aggressively moved into the probable front runners to land super star LeBron James and now they working on putting the proper pieces around him if they deal goes through.

They’ve already reached out to James’ former teammates, Ray Allen, Mike Miller and James Jones; now they’re going for the big guns with Kevin Love.

Even if they do bring James back home, acquiring Kevin Love won’t be so easy.  Minnesota Timberwolves GM Flip Saunders has been very tough with trade partners, turning down the Boston Celtics offer of young players and draft picks, insisting the Warriors include Klay Thompson and insisting the Bulls include Taj Gibson.  The Cavs would likely have to include No. 1 draft Andrew Wiggins, which they’re very hesistant about doing.

Kevin Love reportedly has told the Cavs he would not re-sign in Cleveland unless LeBron was there. Love will be a free agent next summer.

The Cavaliers are putting up a much better effort to put pieces on LeBron this time around.
