LeBron James sent shock waves through the sports world today when he announced he was heading back to the Cleveland Cavaliers leaving the Miami Heat to pick up the pieces of their broken roster.
James wasn’t the only person that opted out, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh opted out of the final two-years of their contracts as well. Bosh is currently deciding between returning to the Heat or accepting the Houston Rockets max contract offer of four-years, $88 million.
Wade, the cornerstone of the Heat was expected to return no matter what happens but now we have a twist, the Chicago Bulls are reportedly interested according to Yahoo Sports.
The Chicago Bulls are interested in discussing a deal with free-agent guard Dwyane Wade, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Miami’s loyalty to Wade would likely compel it to give him a contract extension because of his team-first decision to opt out of the deal. Nevertheless, Wade makes little sense for the Heat moving forward, except that he’s a franchise icon who’s been part of three championships.
Wade grew up in Chicago, and took a meeting in 2010 free agency with the Bulls.
Dealing with chronic knee issues and missing numerous games, this will probably be Wade’s last contract. Does he finish it out in “Wade County” with the Heat, or go to his hometown and retire there?
