Never to late for a classic clip

As Nas celebrates the 20th anniversary of the seminal album Illmatic, he  continues to find ways to let the music live on.  Today we are blessed with a brand new original visual for track 9 off the album that many consider one of the greatest in hip hop history, “Represent”.

The video was part of a contest setup by Nas and director Jason Goldwatch in conjunction with Mass Appeal, a company that Nas is a part owner in and a very visual representative of.  Out of many submissions they chose  directer Brian Katz’s treatment.  The concept actually drew it’s inspiration from a 1924 film called The Thief of Bagdad, which just so happens to be the place where DJ Premier (the producer of “Represent”) originally got the sample for the song.
