History’s worst “meet the parents” scenario.

Pablo Escobar is one of the most infamous drug kingpins in history — and for good reason. According to statistics, Esco controlled approximately 80 percent of the international cocaine market during the late 80′s and 90′s, due largely in part to the Medellin Cartel, for whom he was a leader. They smuggled drugs, and killed whomever opposed them. Now — imagine dating his niece.

Benicio Del Toro will portray “The King of Cocaine” in writer and director Andrea Di Stefano’s (the writer for Life of Pi) upcoming film Paradise Lost. The Hunger Games star, Josh Hutcherson will play a surfer who romance his niece Maria (played by Claudia Traisac), and have to try to earn his way into Escobar’s fold without losing his life, or himself.

Paradise Lost opens this fall in Europe, while its U.S. release date will be announced in the future. Enjoy the extremely intense teaser trailer.
