New Jersey Lyricist Releases Latest Installment Of Weekly Series

AGC’s Apollo The Great has had a pretty busy year so far as he’s kept the streets fed with multiple freestyles and hard-hitting jams like his “Rio De Janeiro (Remix)“, a dye-in-the-wool street banger featuring D-Block frontman Jadakiss. But just because he’s a streetwise spitter with an acid tongue doesn’t mean Apollo can’t speak to the ladies.

On this week’s edition of #THOROThursdays, the Jersey-based emcee’s weekly music series, Apollo bares his soul and speaks to his special lady like never before with the emotional “Wish I Could Sing”. While rappers use intricate wordplay on a daily basis to paint their vivid depictions, even they know that nothing tugs on the heartstrings quite like a sweet serenade.

In an unexpected but effective turn of events, Apollo goes against type on the DJ Cooley-produced track and sings the hook himself: channeling the crooning spirit of soulful soloists like Jon B, Ginuwine, and Tank as well as legendary R&B groups like 112, Jodeci, and Boyz II Men.

Listen to “Wish I Could Sing” below and be on the lookout for Apollo’s next full length project, New Jersey Joe, in the upcoming months.
