Andrew Bynum is a 7-footer and as long as he’s able to somewhat play, there’ll be a team willing to sign him, a la Greg Oden. Despite Bynum’s antics and numerous injuries, teams are still willing to take a chance. This time he might be able to link up with his former coach, Phil Jackson who’s now the president of the New York Knicks. So far Jackson has been bringing in a lot of his former players; he wanted Steve Kerr and ended up with Derek Fisher as the head coach, he wanted to bring in Pau Gasol but couldn’t afford him and he took a chance on Lamar Odom but Odom was unable to return to NBA form. Now Jackson is reportedly interested in Bynum but it’ll take some time before he gets a chance with him.

The 7-foot Bynum may not be reuniting with Phil Jackson’s Knicks or any other team next season because he is seriously contemplating sitting out 2014-15 to undergo the Germany-based knee therapy called “The Regenokine Program’’ that would require an extra long rehab, according to his agent David Lee. But he could be in play for the following season. …
“If he’s healthy, Phil will be interested,’’ Lee told The Post. “Phil knew how to tap into Andrew. They got along famously.’’ …
“He would be looking at in a longer-term situation,’’ Lee said. “He’s still a baby. If he went to college, he’d be coming off his rookie contract at age 26.’’
Bynum tried to make an NBA comeback last year with the Cleveland Cavaliers before unprofessionalism got him banned from all team activities and eventually traded to the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls only did the trade for cap relief and waived Bynum before he even saw the court. The Indiana Pacers then added him to help with their postseason run but his knee issues kept him off the court and the two parted ways shortly after the playoffs began.
Now Phil Jackson may be the right person to make sure Bynum gets his act together but his health may still be a problem. The Germany knee therapy did wonders for Kobe Bryant so maybe it’ll help Bynum as well.
