A Panda’s diet almost exclusively consists of bamboo, so it’s fitting that Akomplice’s collaboration with Panda Bicycles titled “Into the Wild” incorporates the aesthetic and regenerative qualities of the sturdy plant.
Immediately following Panda Bicycles recent collab with Marc Jacobs, they signed on with Akomplice to design a more street-savvy version of their “The One” fixed-gear bike. It’s frame incorporates steel joints and bamboo — which conveniently has a higher compressed strength than wood, brick, or concrete and has a tensile strength matched closely with steel.
The fixed-gear bike marks another new vertical foray for Akomplice outside the bounds of apparel. The bike sports a truly unique design with the “Into the Wild” theme manifesting across the frame with a white base offset by stark animal stripes reminiscent of a zebra. If you’re in the market, be sure to be swift with your clicks when the bike drops Sunday, July 27th at 9:00 AM EST on the Akomplice Webstore. Priced at $2,500.
