We got an chance to chat with the talented Olivia as she talk to us exclusively about her memoir, “Release Me: My Life & My Words”, moving forward from Love & Hip Hop, her acting career, and her music career.
Check out the interview.
What was the inspiration behind the book?
Olivia: Actually one of my friends Tony Gakins Jr. he and I was talking about it maybe two years ago. I was telling him about all of my godkids and I was that I wanted to write a book for children. He was like, “I think you should write a book about your life”, I’m like you think so and he was like, “yeah people are going to be interested in it” and at the moment, I wasn’t really thinking about that because I’m a cool person and I’m private.
Looking back on your experience on Love & Hip Hop, would you consider doing it again?
O: No, you always supposed to move forward to different things. Love & Hip Hop was great. I love Mona to death. I’ve known Mona for 10 years now and I want to do real acting. I’ve been blessed with an opportunity to do so.
Is it one thing that you regret writing in the book?
O: I don’t regret anything. It felt good actually getting a lot of thing for people to understand the things that been through & where I come from, just how my family is and a whole bunch of things. It was actually good for me to do. I was able to write what I wanted and I didn’t have anybody to censor me telling me what I should or shouldn’t write.
Did you write about the things you talked about on Love & Hip Hop in the book?
O: No, this is all new stuff that you haven’t heard before
When can we expect some new music?
O: You’re going to get some new music soon. Hopefully in a couple of weeks. I’m just finishing up on the new album and I’m really excited about it.
Is Rich Dollaz your manager?
O: No, he’s not my manager. I say it on Twitter last year and I also moved forward from that
Despite him not being your manager, do you guys still keep in contact?
O: No
In three words, ho would describe your book? and why?
O: Interesting, surprising, and a great read because it’s interesting, surprising, and a great read (laughs).
What is your beauty regime?
O: For one, you need to thank my mom & dad and GOD because without them I would not look the way that I look. I use neutrogena products for my face, for my hair, I use argan oil products, sulfur free, and I have a hair stylist in LA and I used some of his products called LRC.
How do you feel about the new singers today, compared to when you first started?
O: I don’t pay attention to new things, I’m just working on myself and making me better
Are you considering doing movies?
O: That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’ve been working with my acting coach Tracey Moore for about six years now. We are working on a movie in LA called The Man In 3b and we’re about to shoot a series that was picked up by HBO called The Family Business. We’re going to be shooting for four months and should premiere at the top of the year.
