A 12 year old boy was hit by an SUV and survived with just a broken arm and leg
On May 10 an SUV swerved off the road and plowed into 12-year-old Abraham Al-Saidi slamming him into a Barbershop store front. The boy was riding his bike just yards away from the White Plains Road and Watson Avenue intersection when the SUV hit him suddenly. From the footage, which has just recently been obtained by NBC 4, you can see Al-Saidi actually been thrown off his bicycle. The intersection, identified as a high crash corridor by the NYC Dept. of Transportation, calls for increased traffic safety measures in the area, and the city is promising changes. Al-Saidi told NBC that he didn’t even feel the hit because he was so shocked.
“It didn’t hurt that much because I didn’t feel it, because it came right away.”
Abraham’s lawyer Micah Kwasnik said even though the changes have been set in motion some time ago, they didn’t come in time to protect the Al-Saidi.
“It’s always good to improve safety for the lives of the people in the neighborhood and the lives of the people in the city,” said Micah Kwasnik. “Unfortunately, it’s a little late.”
The family of Al-Saidi has filed a notice of claim against the city and is considering a lawsuit. Watch the footage here.
