In Jay Z’s recent Vanity Fair cover story, the mogul spoke candidly about his days in the drug game and how the knowledge he garnered in the streets has helped him become the successful businessman he is today. Yesterday on ESPN’s First Take, talking heads Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless mulled over the omission and what it means to Jay Z’s status as a sports agent. “Some of the lessons that Jay Z learned in the streets,” Skip concluded, “can be applied to the sports agenting business.” While no one on the show would condone drug dealing, the two authorities on sports did agree that Hov’s time on the block gave him an upper hand in the shady world of managing superstar athletes. Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports boasts a high profile roster of athletes including Yankee’s second baseman Robinson Cano and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant.
