It’s official!

Martin Lawrence made the announcement we’ve all been waiting for last night when he appeared as a guest on Conan to promote his new FX series Partners.  “I heard a rumor that there’s going to be a Bad Boys 3, is that possible?” Conan O’Brien asked the 49-year-old comedian. Lawrence explained that he spoke to producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, who affirmed, “it’s real, they’re working on the script, it’s getting close and it all looks good.”

Will Smith will undoubtedly return as “Mike Lowrey”, the more grounded of the crime fighting duo, and according to an older interview with Lawrence, Michael Bay is “onboard too”, so expect hilarity and tons of explosions.

The Bad Boys series has been increasingly successful since the first film back in 1995, with the first film grossing $141,407,024 worldwide and the second $273,339,556 — more than doubling in North American markets from $65,807,024 to $134,731,112.
