Mo’ne Davis has become the first female to ever pitch a shut out game at the Little League World Series! She’s part of the Philadelphia Taney Dragons and is the only girl on the team. Think that is amazing?  She also pitches 70 MPH fastballs!

During the team’s first game against Tennessee this past Friday, Mo’Ne pitched a 4-0 shut out.

Here’s a few excerpts from her Sports Illustrated feature.

Speaking Diversity in Little League Baseball:

“Probably like a couple of years from now, there’ll be a lot of girls here, and then it won’t be just like all boys, so they’ll have to build like another dorm for girls, so it’ll be a huge impact if more girls start playing,” she said.

Speaking about basketball actually being her first love:

“To be honest, I never thought I’d be famous for baseball,” she says. “I want to play basketball, and I could also do both basketball and baseball — but I really want to play basketball.”

Mo’Ne’s next game pitching for the Taney Dragons will be today against Las Vegas. Make sure you tune in to watch history and make sure you catch her Sports Illustrated cover.
