In the NFL coaches can throw a challenge flag when the referees make a questionable call.  What if they could do that in the NBA?  Well Stephen Curry wants it to happen.

At NBA 2K 15 Uncensored, an event to promote NBA 2K 15 moderated by Ernie Johnson, the Warriors guard said he would be all for it. “Obviously refs are human and they miss calls,” he said. “To be able to make sure they got the right one — maybe give the coach a little flag like they do in football and he gets two or three challenges a game to make sure they get the right call, especially in pivotal situations.”

Not everyone agreed with Curry however; Kevin Durant and James Harden opposed.

When asked the same question at the event, James Harden and Kevin Durant said they wouldn’t want to see that rule. “To be honest, I wouldn’t like to see anything changed because I like how the game is played,” Durant said. “It’s not too much control by the coaches or refs or a player, I think it’s perfect how it is. I think if you give a guy — how can you tell if a guy is flopping a lot — if you give coach the right to challenge calls … it would take some purity out of the game I think.”

Hmmm is it a coincidence that two guys who get sent to the free throw line A LOT don’t want challenge flags to be allowed?  Probably not.  Curry might have that pivotal missed call during the playoff game against the Clippers in mind.  Curry and many other people believe he was fouled by Chris Paul during game 3 of their playoff series while he attempted to take the game winning shot.  In fact during the last playoffs there were a lot of pivotal missed calls that changed the outcome of the games.  Maybe challenge flags aren’t such a bad idea.
