This video is powerful. Even if you put aside Schyler’s words (“Arizona and Skittles will take you closer to heaven”), the visual that accompanies them will certainly drive his point home. The Forever FC emcee walks down a dark street, speaking his manifesto on the everyday social injustices he sees and experiences, while the camera switches to the inside of a car, following him and driven by a white person. The heavy, X-Files production from Jimmy Kelso sets the mood that the person at the wheel only has the worst intentions in mind as he tails Schyler. As Schyler confronts the driver, the screen goes black and a gunshot is heard, leaving the Doctrine For A Better Tomorrow on screen.
When will the day come where we don’t have to pray for the protection of our youth from murder in the streets?
On another note, the FC crew put out a formal introduction to some of their newer and older members, which is below. Catch up now or forever be behind. They will also be opening up for Outkast in their hometown of Charlotte in September at Funk Fest.
