Although he recently released “Be Free” in honor of Mike Brown, J. Cole traveled to Ferguson to pay his respects in person. While on site Cole spoke to residents and protesters as they paced and prayed at the location where Brown lost his life.
“And it happens and we’ll just be like – Another one ?- you know how we do it’s like another one ? And the most we give is a, Man this is fucked up and we keep living life, but when I read the article I got mad at myself and I was like man, we can’t keep doing this.”
said Cole in the video clip above. He also mentioned that reading coverage about the shooting of Brown and strangling death of Eric Garner, he too felt enough was enough. Checkout the video above to catch his full statement and click here to watch as Cole goes on to remind protesters that this isn’t the only kind of violence that should outrage communities. He tells those around him that crime within our own communities and among one another should hurt us as hard, if not harder and that it is the love we have for one another that will help bring peace.
