College football fans of all ages rejoice…
The day has finally come! On Saturday, August 23, the College Football Hall of Fame and Chik-Fil-A Fan Experience opened its doors to the public in Atlanta at 250 Marietta Street. Located next to the Georgia World Congress Center and CNN Center, and in the mix of everything else downtown, college football fans from around the world are expected to converge in Atlanta during its inaugural year to learn more about players, coaches and teams of college football past — and present. Tickets are $20 for adults with discounted rates for current students and children.
The 94,000-square-foot building will feature historic and contemporary artifacts, interactive multimedia displays, children’s activities, theater, meeting facilities and special event spaces.
As shared with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, exhibit designer and President of Gallagher & Associates, remarked: “They wanted this to … have a wider audience appeal, not just be for someone who says, ‘I’m a college football advocate and going to the church of college football,’”
“You’re going to see the history of the sport intermingled throughout, but … it’s really more about exploration and enjoyment. This is where we vary a great deal (from other sports museums). I think we have to. I think it’s a more dynamic experience to go to a college game.” One of the most exciting amenities are the RFID equipped electronic tickets that are personalized to your favorite college football team. After visitors register in the lobby and designate their favorite team, various interactive displays throughout the building will recognize them as they approach and automatically display content on that team. Or browse all 785 teams. Your call.
