According to the New York Daily News, Joe Budden was accused of assaulting and robbing his ex-girlfriend in Manhattan last week.
The story states that Budden drove to a restaurant in Washington Heights and forced his ex-girlfriend into his car. An argument ensued and Budden stole her cell phone, twisted her arm and smashed her head into the dashboard of his car.
The Daily News also indicated that the NYPD is looking for Budden and that the former Love & Hip Hop New York star is facing charges of assault and robbery. It’s also been said that he’s wanted by police.
In an email exchange over the weekend with Nima Ameri, Budden’s attorney, the lawyer states that his client is cooperating with the NYPD. “Mr. Budden looks forward to an opportunity to responsibly deal with and address the allegations against him so he may establish the actual facts of the night in question, Amerie tells The Source.
“Mr. Budden has fully cooperated with the investigation. Mr. Budden asks for patience as the evidence and facts unfold to demonstrate the truth of his involvement and the real events that transpired on the night in question.”
Amid the allegations levied against him, Budden took to Twitter over the weekend to diffuse those reports. Budden tweeted Saturday that cops could find him later at a strip club in Astoria, Queens: “Let the Man hunt know,” tweeted Budden.
He countered that with: “Glad to see our tax dollars being put to good use! Lol.”
