Due to it’s popularity and critical acclaim garnered, it’s safe to assume that many people are fans of HBO‘s The Sopranos, a story about a New Jersey mob boss named Tony Soprano (played by the late James Gandolfini) and his dealings with “the business” and his family, the series finale was definitely a memorable one. After  years of watching, the final scene of the show showed Tony and his family meeting in a diner. There are some shifty character arounds, but after Tony’s daughter, Meadow (played by Jamie-Lynn Sigler) walks through the diner door, the bell rings, then the screen goes to black. Nobody said it was the greatest ending of all time. In fact, it was met with harsh criticism.

Seven years later, Uproxx reporter caught up with The Sopranos’ creator, David Chase. he has apparently answered the question for Vox, but the answer was short and sweet. When asked about whether or not Tony got whacked in the diner, Chase angrily replied, “No….No he isn’t [dead].”

Well, that’s it. The creator of The Sopranos says that Tony Soprano is not dead. It’s not the answer, but it’s an answer. There was something going down in that diner. EVen sitting in the living room watching didn’t feel right. There’s no way Tony, Carmella, Meadow and Anthony just sat down to a nice dinner at the end of all that. The answer is apparently to let your imagination run away with you as far as your curiosity about what The Sopranos’ lives in 2014 are like.
