We see stunting on many different levels done in many different ways. You have folks out there buying bling in efforts to outdo guys like Liberace. There are folks who ball out with their homes. We all see folks with their flashy, name brand gear and expensive sneakers. Yet another type of “stunna” might flaunt his/her means by frequenting upscale, pricey eateries. Usually, the fare involved are like steaks or lobster and shrimp or something. Thanks to companies like Seattle’s Japanese fusion food truck, Tokyo Dog, one doesn’t have to hit some uppity establishment with dress codes and such. The distributor of “Japanese style hot dogs” now offers a frank called “The Juuni Ban” that costs a whopping $169 (plus tax), gaining recognition from the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most expensive hot dog according to NBC News.

In the words of the Guinness Book, “”The ingredients list for the footlong frank would make a Michelin-starred chef blush.” The smoked cheese bratwurst is served on a brioche bun trim me with butter Teriyaki grilled onions, Maitake mushrooms, Waygu beef, foie gras, shaved black truffles, caviar and Japanese mayonnaise. The hot dog has to be ordered two weeks in advance.

The Juuni Ban isn’t the first of its kind. The previous record holder for world’s “most expensive hot dog” was Capitol Dawg in Sacramento, CA. It’s 18 inch “Capitol City Dawg” sold for $145.49.

Good thing Tokyo Dog didn’t add the gold flakes like co-owner Eugene Woo said they planned on. He claims a hot dog with gold flakes would just be to over the top and cost too much. Everything about this is done with the best of intentions. All proceeds from Juuni Ban sales go to the American Red Cross.
