SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES
As the “Raptivism Movement” continues to pick up steam through the 7 E’s 4 Power Tour the Hip-Hop Summit Youth Council (HHSYC) and their Hip-Hop Against Gun & Gang Violence Project completed their 100th event at PS/MS 42 in Far Rockaway, Queens with a surprise ground-shaking performance by “Sizzling Hot” Atlantic Recording artists Diggy Simmons and Trevor Jackson. The special guests rocked the auditorium with their hot new single “My Girl” as a surprise treat for over 300 screaming fans. Some females rushed the stage hoping to touch their favorite star. After the performance the group talked to the crowd about their struggles as young celebrities and how they persevered to achieve their success. They also encouraged the audience to stay focused on their education, stay away from gun and gang violence, and never give up on their dreams. Both artists took several questions from their fans then held a private Meet & Greet for 40 lucky participants.
DJ Suss-One of Power 105.1 was in the building taking charge of the music with DJ Bam Bam providing the hot tunes to keep the crowd jumping from start to finish. With the overwhelming success of this event we are sure that the 7 E’s 4 Power tour will have a positive influence on students during the school year, as we promote the importance of education, employment and public safety.
Stated Charles Fisher, Founder, HHSYC, “This was a major event for the students and community residents who attended. We want to thank Kevin Holiday of Atlantic Records, Joe De Angelis and DJ Suss-One of Power 105.1, Diggy Simmons and Trevor Jackson for blessing us with their time, a great performance, and support for our continued efforts to promote the importance of education, while reducing gun and gang violence. In May we made a commitment to produce 105 events over 105 days with Power 105. This was event number 100 and will go down in history as one of the best over the entire summer.”
“This was a great treat for the many students in attendance as the summer vacation comes to a close. Our School & Community Center Adoption Program (SCCAP) is now in a much better position to have a real impact this school year as we establish more partnerships with artists, entertainment companies, Parent Association Groups and the private sector. At the end of the day schools and community centers in poor and disadvantaged communities have a desperate need for more resources to be competitive and through this initiative we will be able to accomplish this task. We will be working very closely with Principal Finn, PA President Kevin Brown, Title 1 Coordinator Ms. Lynn, and NYS Parent Advocate Queen Makkada throughout the 2014-15 school year to improve school safety and academic success,” ended Randy Fisher, executive director, HHSYC.
“I want to thank Charles and Randy Fisher for bringing us out to PS/MS 42 and being a part of this awesome event to promote the importance of education and safety in our communities. My fans are more important to me than anything. I just love to connect with my audience. They go to the site just to see what I do on a day-to-day basis, my thoughts, and what I’m feeling. It lets them know where I am, whether I’m on the road, in the studio, or at home with the family. We share that. They write me about their lives, and they can see mine,” stated Atlantic Recording artist Diggy Simmons.
“I truly enjoyed the day and the fans were great. I want to thank the Fishers for setting all this up for us because there is nothing more important than supporting a project that promotes the importance of graduating from school and reducing violence. Through my work I’ve learned that if I love it, whether it’s music, acting or any type of entertainment, I can overcome any of the obstacles that come my way. There are so many people telling you no, but if you love what you do, no one can stop you,” ended Atlantic Recording artist Trevor Jackson.
DJ Suss-One of Power 105.1 stated, “Diggy and Trevor have a lot of talent and soon they will be big stars, you can believe that. It is always a good look when you can give back to the community and support a project like the 7 E’s 4 Power Tour, whose mission is to end gun and gang violence, help students graduate from school and find jobs for those that want to work. At the end of the day this is what Power 105.1 is all about.”
“Today’s event was a great way for our students to end the summer. Diggy and Trevor are very nice and talented young men and I hope they will return during the school year and talk to our students about the importance of graduating from school and fulfilling their dreams. I wish them both a lot of luck and hope they are successful in the entertainment business,” ended Principal Finn of PS/MS 42.
